If you were to ask me, what is THE BEST part of my job, by far, then I would tell you this: getting labs back that a patient who I had been treating for infertility is expecting.
Expecting is such a fitting word, because you have NO idea what to expect, and yet you are getting the world.
Infertility is such an incredibly difficult, emotional and often painful journey for so many individuals with so much anxiety and uncertainty. This is a path I get to walk with my patients, a path I take great pride in being a part of. When I get to phone a patient to break the news, I am honestly overcome by emotion every single time.
Today, amidst the chaos of this epidemic and the riots going on in SA at the moment, I am content and at peace because there is hope. There is always hope. Wonderful things still happen.
